Description

Tete Noire 3 is a frost-resistant red cabbage with firm dense heads and a deep, rich colour. A Christmas favourite in many European kitchens. The sweet flavour improves after cold weather, which makes it ideal for Irish autumn and winter growing.

Braise it slowly with apple and red wine vinegar for a classic side dish. Shred it raw for coleslaw. Pickle it. One of the most useful vegetables in a winter garden, and one of the most beautiful.

Red Cabbage ‘Tête Noire 3’ is a superb frost resistant variety, prized for its firm, dense, and deeply coloured round heads. A Christmas favourite, its sweet flavour intensifies after frost, making it perfect for traditional braised sweet-and-sour dishes, hearty winter slaws, and festive recipes. This reliable variety stores excellently, providing homegrown produce deep into winter. This packet contains approximately 1500 seeds.

🌱 Sow outdoors May to end July. Sow in a seedbed or modules for transplanting.
